    The Japanese auto manufacturer ceremoniously launched production of its first hydrogen-powered vehicles on Sunday in Tochigi, Japan, and announced its first customers.

    Hydrogen fuel stations increasing for the new Honda car

    Hydrogen cars are set to become very popular with the news that we reported earlier that Honda are to mass produce the new FCX Clarity, as well as other automakers like BMW working hard on their hydrogen vehicle. This now means that fuel companies will now need to increase the amount of hydrogen fuel stations that they currently have. These fuelling stations are one of the most important factors for the success and future of hydrogen cars.

    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    Robo-One is a robot competition category of bipedal humanoid robots. The first ROBO-ONE contest was held in Japan in 2002 and consisted of an initial judged autonomous "Demonstration" stage, followed by one-on-one matches.

    The robots are usually built with RC Servos as actuators and mounted together with sheet metal shapes. The most common frame material is aluminum. However, there have been entries constructed with steel, plastic, and even wood. Different sensors are used by the robot for balance and to perceive its surroundings. A small onboard micro controller or equivalent is used to control the robots movements and if the robot is autonomous it is also programmed to adjust the robots behavior in response to sensor inputs.

    Linux -- The greener option for servers

    Linux beats Windows in green testing

    649839_connections.jpg
    According to tests run by Network World Linux also appears to be the greener option for servers. The magazine has pitted Windows 2008 Server against Red Hat and Suse Linux server offerings, putting the two through a multitude of tests.

    Linux captures the “green” flag, beats Windows 2008 power saving measures

    //
    How we did it
    //
    Greener pastures for Web server farms?
    // Virtualization thwarts green OS initiatives
    // NOC infrastructure may thwart green OS ideals

    Independent tests show that Red Hat Linux pulls as much as 12% less power than Windows 2008 on identical hardware

    For this test, we examined power consumption as a way to judge whether Windows Server 2008 or Linux is, in fact, the 'greener' operating system. As the price of power hits record heights, power reduction mechanisms shipping within an operating system should play a key role in you energy conservation plan.

    Dust Furniture

    Dust Furniture is a
    collection of studio furniture from craft artist Vincent Thomas Leman.
    Vincent has built one-of-a-kind pieces for years, but released this line
    to accommodate the demand for reproducible versions of his work.

    Vincent's work has been described as 'abstract traditional furniture.'
    Each piece is essentially a traditional piece of furniture that is
    stretched, curved, stacked and stepped to fit his design intentions.
    While wood is the material employed to make his furniture, Vincent
    considers his actual medium to be 'traditional furniture.' The
    classical root of each piece helps maintain its identity as furniture
    and keeps the work familiar and approachable despite the unusual shapes.

    Space Solar Power

    A revolutionary proposal of giant floating power plants, harvesting gigawatts of solar energy 22,000 miles in the sky and beaming it down to earth-based receivers might provide the additional power needed to meet the demands of India's growing economy,
    Pranav Mehta, the director of India operations for the California based solar space developer Space Island Group, envisions giant floating power plants, harvesting gigawatts of solar energy 22,000 miles in the sky and beaming it down to earth-based receivers.
    In his native India, where at least 700,000 megawatts of additional power is needed to meet the demands of its growing economy, space-based solar energy is certainly a prudent alternative for carbon-belching coal.
